Clinical Clerks - Core Rotation
Registration and Orientation:
You should have your ID badge and access to the electronic patient record, Sunnycare, prior to starting the rotation. If there are any issues, please contact Sunnybrook UGME at ug.meded@sunnybrook.ca.
Scheduling:
Schedules will be provided via email approximately 1-2 weeks before the rotation starts.
You will be scheduled approximately 3-5 shifts with your preceptor.
You will have a wide variety of shifts (13 in total- including one teaching/ultrasound shift). You will do 1 overnight shift and 4 weekend shifts during the rotation.
If Sick:
Notify Dr. Phillips at dana.kozubal@gmail.com and call the emergency physician that you are scheduled to work with to inform them that you are sick (416-480-7207) .
If you miss one shift, you will have the option of making it up. If you miss more than one shift, arrangements will be made to make up shifts. The course requirement is 12 shifts.
Teaching Shift and Ultrasound Workshop:
This is a full day you will spend learning together as a group.
In the morning during the Teaching Shift, you will all work with one preceptor. You may see real patients together and discuss the cases, perform procedures, or review EKGs or imaging.
In the afternoon during the Ultrasound Workshop, you will review the FAST scan and practice your scanning technique on real patients in the ED.

Scheduling:
Schedules will be provided via email approximately 2 weeks before the rotation starts.
Shifts will be a mix between the different zones and you will not be required to do any overnights unless you specifically request them.
